In 1977, Precision,
Inc. was founded to manufacture conveyor pulleys for the
material handling industry. Originally known as Precision
Pulley Inc., the company operated out of a 6,000 square foot
facility in Knoxville, Iowa. In 1979, Precision moved their
operations to Pella, with the construction of a new 21,000
square foot facility on S.E. 14th Street. Over the past
eighteen years, Precision's growth as a leading manufacurer
of conveyor pulleys, belt idlers and other conveyor
components has resulted in a total of six manufacturing
facilities in the Iowa communities of Pella, Corning and
Lenox
In 1988, Precision moved into their new headquarters
building in Pella, which houses the administrative,
engineering, customer service and support staffs. In
addition, Precision operates six warehouses around the
United States to serve their customers in a variety of
industries.
Precision's
products are used in conveyor systems that move both "unit"
and "bulk" materials worldwide. In the unit handling area,
Precision pulleys and idlers are used at
major facilities of
UPS, Fedex, United States Postal Service and other such
companies to move and sort the packages and letters. Airline
baggage handling systems and warehousing conveyors are other
examples of applications for Precision's extensive line of
unit handling products.
In the bulk
material handling industry, Precision products are used on
conveyors that move sand and gravel, chemicals, coal, copper
ore, gold, silver and other minerals. The coal industry is a
good example of the breadth of Precision's customers: from
the coal mines themselves, to the transhipment facilities
that move the coal, to the power plants that burn the coal
to generate electricity, Precision pulleys and idlers are
critical to the efficient operation of such facilities.
Quality efforts at
Precision are focused on the customer. Precision employees
strive to provide quality products and services that exceed
the customer's needs. To attain this goal, Precision
employees are given experience and training in a variety of
work assignments, along with extensive instruction in
teamwork and problem solving techniques. Precision's Quality
Assurance and Engineering Service groups provide clear and
consistent specifications to the production personnel.
Whether an employee's role is communicating the customer's
need or producing the customer's product, each employee
shares the responsibility for continuous quality
improvement.
At Precision, the
customer always comes first. From the smallest package
handling conveyor to the highly complex systems for moving
ore, Precision strives to maximize the value of their
products and services to the customer. From design through
manufacturing, Precision continues to strive to combine
efforts and attitudes needed to competitively produce the
highest quality products.
